Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Latin - Baylor University - GPA: 3.95 - Graduated with Honors
Currently, I am a Ph.D. student at Notre Dame in the Quantitative Psychology department. I have worked for over three years as a tutor, and I truly enjoy helping my students learn and master their material. Because tutoring is one-on-one, it provides a unique opportunity to identify an individual student's strengths, learning style, and areas of difficulty to help them overcome any problem areas and gain full comprehension of all material. Tutoring can help not only those who may be struggling in a traditional classroom environment, but also those who want to go above and beyond the exposure to material they get in school to achieve true mastery of their chosen subjects.
Experience3 years experience tutoring college level math (Pre-Calc through Calc 2), psychology, and statistics - Baylor University Tutoring Center - Promoted to Shift Supervisor
GRE: 168 out of 170 (quantitative), 168 out of 170 (verbal)
ACT: 35 out of 36
SAT: 1590 out of 1600 (Math and Verbal)
I enjoy tutoring because of the rewarding nature of one-on-one interaction with students. Helping others master material that previously caused them difficulty is an important way to spread the benefits of education. I work with students studying high school and college level math, statistics, and psychology courses.
HobbiesAs a Ph.D. student, my job is being a professional student. I enjoy learning new material in the classroom, conducting my own research, and helping others tackle new academic issues.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader. I also play racquetball and tennis and hang out with friends around town. Before starting graduate school, I spent a summer in Albuquerque working as a computer programmer for a defense contractor. My wife and I have a pet gerbil and enjoy the cold winters here in the North.
